Republican Hypocrisy

This article shows that many (all?) of the Republicans in Congress are not really interested in either a practical solution to the health care problem or even a principled stand on their own ideology. No, they are merely acting as spoilers, doing what they can to make the Democrats look bad.

Orrin Hatch basically admits that the Republicans were irresponsible when they controlled Congress:
Six years ago, "it was standard practice not to pay for things."
But the current bill does pay for itself and will do "a lot of good," a lot more good than the Medicare drug program.
"As far as I am concerned, any Republican who voted for the Medicare drug benefit has no right to criticize anything the Democrats have done in terms of adding to the national debt," said Bruce Bartlett, an official in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.
